Memo to Pres. Obama: Polls Show Increasing Support For The 2nd Amendment

Investors Business Daily Graphic
As Pres. Obama pushes for more gun control, it appears that he is pushing Americans in the other direction.  Support for the 2nd Amendment is increasing - according to a poll by the INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY.  Let's look at some of the evidence:

Perhaps the most devastating poll question was: "Second Amendment will always be a relevant and necessary safeguard against tyranny."

Agree 72%
Democrats agreeing: 52%
Non-gun owners  agreeing: 52%

In spite of continued efforts to suggest that the 2nd Amendment is outdated and not needed today a majority of both Democrats and people who do not own firearms still see the 2nd Amendment as important and relevant.  Further more, Republicans and Independents oppose more gun control laws - while only Democrats support them.

Looking at the same three groups, a majority of all but Democrats believe that more guns in the hands of law abiding people results in less crime.  Of course, the fact is that this is exactly what has happened in the last 25 years - 180 Million new guns entered private hands and the firearms crime and homicide rates dropped by about 50%.

Finally, in the same article, they quote polling information from Gallup concerning the NRA - the pro-2nd Amendment organization Pres. Obama has been attacking for two years.  The question was "Do you support the NRA?"  Here are the percentage of people who answered "Yes" in 2000, 2012, and 2014:

2000 - 52%
2012 - 34%
2014 - 58%

In spite of all of this, Democrats seem to think that gun control somehow will be a winning issue in 2016.  However, the polling seems to tell a very different story.
