Michael Bloomberg, The Teachers Union, Marches and Walkouts

First of all, if you think that these demonstrations are student lead and coordinated, then you are very
naive The truth is that these kids are nothing but props for the pre-existing anti-gun rights crowd.

Who is behind it?  Billionaire Michael Bloomberg (who is protected by dozens of armed guards), his phony astroturf groups (the head of which also has armed security and a $500k compensation package), Planned Parenthood, other gun control groups and, most important of all, the teachers union.  This is who is really controlling the message, not the students.

Bloomberg's Front Organizations Have Paid Demonstrators In The Past

We must remember that Michael Bloomberg's owned and operated organizations have paid demonstrators in the past (as far back as the 2014 NRA convention) , and that rallies in major metropolitan areas routinely draw less than 25 people and often less than ten people. At the last NRA convention, his group was so desperate to create a big crowd for their demonstration that they were caught on video handing out T-Shirts to the homeless who lived at the park from which their march was going to begin.  I watched it happen live - because an NRA camera crew showed up to cover the demonstration 30 minutes early.

That the one thing that Michael Bloomberg has is money - vastly more than the NRA.  We know that his organizations have already given more than $250 million dollars in grants in the last month.  He has likely spent much more money directly through his owned and operated groups.  We know that he has hired a former CNN producer to coordinate the media messaging.  You can bet she didn't come cheap.  He is willing to spend whatever it takes, and he is worth BILLIONS.   What can you buy for that kind of money?

Bloomberg Has Found A Much Larger Group of Demonstrators He Can Buy: Students

Well, you can certainly get the attention of the teacher's union - and members of that union have control of, you guessed it: STUDENTS.  So, it's pretty clear that Michael Bloomberg has finally found a group of people who he can buy.  Want to bet that some money has flowed from Bloomberg to the teachers union?

Am I saying that these kids don't have much of a choice but to go to these demonstrations?  THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM SAYING.  Teachers have a great deal of power over students - and student can be and are punished for disagreeing with their teachers every day.  My daughter, who is very bright, experienced this as soon as her teacher found out she was a conservative.  She dared to refuse to conform and her grades suffered as a result.  Now imagine what it is like to be in class with a teacher who tells you all about the demonstration and strongly hints that you really should go.  He or she is going and it is during school hours.  Most of your fellow students really don't care one way or another, and they quickly understand that it is in their interest to best interest to go.  If you don't go, you will have to sit in a room and do pretty much nothing - quite a bit like detention.  What kind of pressure would a student who disagrees face if they decided not to participate?  This is EXACTLY what is happening to students as young as the 5th grade.

By the way, what choice does a teacher have when their union is helping to organize and plan a demonstration of this magnitude?
What do you think would happen to a teacher who refused to participate?  What kind of pressure would he or she face?

The coercion is massive and undeniable.

If This Was Done In Support Of Any Other Issue, The Public Would Be Outraged

Imagine what would happen if a teacher simply promoted a pro-life rally in his or her classroom - even if the rally were to be held outside school hours and off campus.  How about if some students wanted to walk out of class to protest late term abortions - would they be actively supported?  In New York, the city is removing NYPD officers from the city's schools - do you think that students would be allowed to walk out of school in protest over that?  What if some students whose fathers have lost their jobs to illegal immigrants wanted to protest illegal immigration?  Do you think that the schools would support any of these protests?

Even more significant, do you think that student who wanted to attend a pro-2nd Amendment rally during school hours would be allowed to go without being disciplined by the school?  The week two kids who simply went to a gun range and dared to post pictures on facebook were suspended for a week.  Do you really think that the school would tolerate both sides in the debate equally?

If any of these issues were the subject of these protests, the public would be outraged.  But you say, "This is different - students are being attacked in their schools!"  Yes they are - and everyone is concerned about it.  However, everyone does not agree on the course to take.  Many people believe - including many students - believe that gun control is the answer.  Many, many others - including the vast majority of line police officers - believe that the answer lies elsewhere and that trusting in gun control will result in many more deaths.  So, did the teachers union encourage a debate?  Did they invite speakers from both sides so the students could learn and be challenged?  Nope - they simply took sides.

Now let that sink in.  We are talking about government employees on government time using their position of influence to advance a particular political position by coercing students to take part in political demonstrations.  How does this not violate some law?

Someone needs to investigate this...... but I am not holding me breath.
